JOHN HEGNER

John Hegner is an accomplished musician, composer, songwriter, producer, and engineer.

Hegner began his journey in music with piano lessons at age 6 and composed his first song at age 12. He attended High School at the renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. John continued his musical training at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and Berklee College of Music in Boston. After college he was hired as staff composer at Editel/Boston and later freelanced under the name Monster Music for three years. Moving to New York City, he operated John Hegner Music for the next ten years. He recently returned to McHenry County to make his home and studio in rural Woodstock.

John’s extensive background in music has given him the chance to work with a number of commercial clients including: Reebok, John Hancock Insurance, Cellular One, Digital Equipment Corporation, New England Telephone, RE/MAX International, Lotus Development, Jiffy Lube, NASA, K-Mart, Discovery Channel, Bloomberg, WGN, WNBC, KCBS, KHOU, and WGBH.

John composed the score for the feature film, Macbeth in Manhattan, directed by Greg Lombardo, and for the short feature, Caught in Time, directed by Abigail Zealey-Bess.
