There are many things to explore in the area including great hiking locations, numerous breweries to visit, historic locations to wander through and festivals and theaters to entertain us all. Here is just a small sample of what you may experience during your visit. 

Visit historic Woodstock IL, just a 10 minute drive offering plenty of events, art, & entertainment in a unique and nostalgic setting. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, be sure to check out the current and upcoming events HERE and of course we have to mention the beloved Groundhog Days We love to stroll the Historic Woodstock Square, where there is always something happening (check out the Seasonal Events), visit the Woodstock Opera House and the Woodstock Farmers Market, voted #1 in Illinois. Harvard IL is a small town less than 10 minutes away with its claim to fame being Harvard Milk Days, the longest ongoing hometown festival in the state of Illinois!  Other highlights include Rush Creek Distillery, offering tours, live music events, and more and The Starline Factory is a town gem and a must see unique destination offering events like no others. Visit 4th Fridays at Starline where you can explore the 130 year old transformed factory building while viewing a juried art show, enjoy drinks, live music, visit galleries and chat with the artists.
Lake Geneva WI is just a 30 minute drive north where you will find even more art, entertainment, and dining options. Lake Geneva offers shopping, tours, concerts in the park and  plenty of festivals and family fun, see everything the town has to offer HERE Check out the Events Calendar for scheduled concerts, shows, and other entertainment.

Crystal lake, IL

Less than 30 minutes south is Crystal lake, IL where among the numerous shopping and dining options you can find art, music and other events at The Dole Mansion and Lakeside Arts Park, and The Raue Center For The Artspic of Music Under the Trees at the Dole   Our favorite Crystal Lake dining locations include Duke’s Alehouse & Kitchen  and 1776 Restaurant, both focused on sustainable ingredients from local farmers and producers.
